Small Builders is thrilled to announce that our building software now fully integrates with Xero accounting software. This automatic accounting feature will help builders and contractors get even more organised and reduce time in the office. If you’re a Small Builders user read on to get started.


Everything Small Builders’ users need to know about Xero integration

Before you begin, you will need to ensure that you have a Small Builders Owner Admin account and an active Xero account.

Please note that you must have an Owner Admin account. You cannot integrate with Xero from Small Builders with any other type of account (including contractor, employee, or project worker).

You also must use a Google Chrome browser which is available here if you need it https://www.google.com/chrome/.

Integrate Small Builders Account with Xero

To connect your Small Builders account with your Xero accounting software account, simply follow these steps.

  1.      Log on to your Small Builders account.
  2.      Once you are logged on, head over to the Xero form.                                                                  Select: Management >  Integration >  Xero > Register
  1.        On the Xero tab, you can see the status of your integration with Xero.
  2.        Status will read “Connected” in green font if your Small Builders account is connected with your Xero account.
  3.       Status will read “Not Connected” in red font if your Small Builders account is not connected with your Xero account.
  4.      If you want to connect your Small Builders account with Xero, select the green “Connect” button.
  5.      You will be asked to enter your Xero account details. Please enter the details of the Xero account that you want to connect your Small Builders account with.
  6.      Once you have completed the above steps, your integration status on the Small Builders Xero tab will show your status as “Connected”. The red “Disconnect” button will also show.

Disable Small Builders Account with Xero

To disconnect the integration of your Small Builders account with your Xero account, follow these steps.

  1.      Log on to your Small Builders Owner Admin account.
  2.      Once you are logged on, head over to the Xero form.                                                                  Select: Management >  Integration >  Xero > Register
  1.        On the Xero tab, you can see the status of your integration with Xero.
  2.        Status will read “Connected” in green font if your Small Builders account is connected with your Xero account.
  3.       Status will read “Not Connected” in red font if your Small Builders account is not connected with your Xero account.
  4.        Once you have completed the above steps, your integration status on the Small Builders Xero tab will show your status as “Not Connected”. The Green “Connect” button will also show.

Make Payment Claims Process into Xero as an Invoice

You can automatically make your registered payment claim in Small Builders create a draft tax invoice in your Xero account.

  1.      Log on to your Small Builders account.
  2.      Once you are logged on, head over to the Xero form.                                                                  Select: Management >  Integration >  Xero > Register
  1.      Payment Claims processed on the Small Builders Payment Claim System – Payment Register will automatically display on the Xero Register tab.
  2.      Select “Move to Xero” to automate your claim into Xero. This will create a draft tax invoice in your Xero account.

View all Processed Payment Claims

You can view all past payment claims made in Small Builders that have been processed to make a draft tax invoice in your Xero account.

  1.      Log on to your Small Builders account.
  2.      Once you are logged on, head over to the Xero form.                                                                  Select: Management >  Integration >  Xero > Register
